Wrapping a van is one of the most popular choices that business owners are making when it comes to trying to increase awareness in the local area for their products or services. A van can become an advertisement that people see everyday in any location that you are visiting. Depending on the design you can feature products, services or even promotions that people see as you drive around the roads.
Getting your van partially wrapped
Jindalee Indoor Plant Service has been operating since 1985 and they deliver plants that have been hired using their van. It means they are visiting people who are located around Newcastle, the Hunter and Central Coast region. With their reputation already established they have a large existing customer base, so their opportunity is to make other people aware of who they are.
Their van didn’t have any signage on it, so as they drove around the roads and freeways nobody really knew who was operating the vehicle.
They decided to get their van partially wrapped so they could promote their company to locals as they went from house to house delivering products using their van. With the amount of space available on the sides of the van that didn’t have any windows it made sense to get a partial wrap installed on this vehicle.
Partial van wrap design
Our sign writing service helped to design a partial wrap that would suit the business. In this case it meant a very intricate design to make it look like plants were growing up the sides of the van. Designed in house it put our Summa vinyl cutting machine through its paces with the very detailed outline of all the different shapes of the leaves.
The partial wrap was printed on Avery High Gloss material for a superior appearance with excellent outdoor durability of up to 7 years and long-term removability of up to 4 years
Rear window signage for a van
Another area of a vehicle that can have signage put on it is the rear windows. You can choose between one way vision rear window signage that covers the whole window or you can have lettering applied as pictured above.
How much does a partial van wrap cost on a delivery van?
As a price guide the cost for this type of partial van wrap would be between $1,200 and $2,700 ex gst
When it comes to pricing for vehicle wrapping, there are several factors that come into play, and one of the primary determinants is the complexity of the design. As a general rule, the more intricate the design and the larger the area of the vehicle to be covered, the higher the price will be. This is understandable, as more complex designs often require additional time, materials or resources to get it all designed, printed and installed on the vehicle.
There are several other critical factors that influence the pricing of vehicle signage;
- The method of production is a key consideration, different production methods come with varying costs. So for example if you are after a vehicle decal that is typically a once piece design on single sheet of material that is applied to a large surface area. A full or partial vehicle wrap may have multiple elements which needs more time to produce each piece.
- The installation process can vary based on the intricacy of applying the signage to the vehicle can affect the overall price. As mentioned if we are just placing two decals on the doors that may take less than thirty minutes but a full wrap might take a day.
- Quality of the materials used in the signage also play a significant role in determining the cost because you can choose from different types of material, finishes or textures.
As a team of sign writing designers we are equipped to tackle all of these challenges and provide you with advice as well as competitive pricing that will make sense for your requirements. We can cleverly design vehicle signage that strategically places suitable graphics, lettering or wrapping that will minimise installation time and reduce off-road downtime for your vehicle. This becomes especially important if you have a fleet of vehicles that need to be covered.
The benefit of using an experienced sign writer who works with vehicle wrapping all the time is our ability to ensure the final signage installed is visually impactful and effectively communicates your intended message. By taking into account the unique contours and features of each vehicle, we are able to optimise the initial design ideas and also ensure the placement of any type of vehicle signage is executed for maximum impact and efficiency.
Once we choose the most suitable design application, production technique and final layout for each specific design we can ensure the end result is both visually stunning and cost-effective. Every time we carry out an installation it is done with precision and expertise which is not only important in terms of cost, but also in ensuring the signage lasts for a long time & the vehicle is back on the road quickly.
Is a vehicle wrap for a van a better idea compared to painting?
Buying a partial vehicle wrap makes more sense than painting your vehicle these days and the reasons include;
Cost:
- Lower upfront cost: Wraps are generally significantly cheaper than a full or partial paint job, especially if you’re only covering a portion of the vehicle.
- Long-term cost savings: Wraps protect the original paint underneath, potentially increasing the resale value of your vehicle. They also resist fading and chipping better than paint, saving you money on future maintenance.
- No hidden costs: The cost of a wrap is typically fixed and includes materials, design, and installation. With painting, you may encounter unforeseen expenses related to rust repair, bodywork, or additional materials.
Time:
- Faster installation: Wraps can be installed in a matter of days, compared to several days or even weeks for a paint job. This means you can get back to using your vehicle sooner.
- No downtime: You can still drive your vehicle while the wrap is being installed, unlike with painting where your car will be unavailable for a period of time.
Flexibility:
- Removable: You can remove the wrap at any time without damaging the original paint underneath. This allows you to easily change the look of your vehicle or return it to its original condition.
- Greater customisation options: Wraps offer virtually unlimited design possibilities, allowing you to personalise your vehicle with any colour, pattern, or image you can imagine. Paint is limited to the colours and finishes available.
- Marketing potential: Businesses can use partial wraps to advertise their brands on their vehicles, turning them into mobile billboards.
- Temporary protection: Wraps can be used as temporary protection for new vehicles during transport or storage.
Protection:
- Protects original paint: Wraps act as a barrier against UV rays, scratches, and minor abrasions, preserving the original paint job and potentially increasing your vehicle’s resale value.
- Easy cleaning: Wraps are easy to clean and maintain, requiring only soap and water.
There are some limitations to consider which includes wraps may last for between 7 and 10 years depending on the quality of material used and how they are cared for. You have to ensure you get an experienced installer because proper installation is crucial for a flawless finish and wraps can be damaged by improper cleaning, harsh chemicals, or vandalism.
What other types of signs could be used with this van?
In this example there could have been two other sign types that were considered to be produced at the same time as the vehicle wrapping. A commercial van might do deliveries or be used to carry items to manage an event. So to compliment any signage that is placed on the vehicle you can also order portable signs such as A Frames or Feather Flag Banners.
Both of these types of signs can easily be transported and be placed near the van when it is parked or a nearby location to draw attention.
- Feather Flag Banners; these are lightweight portable sign products that have a base and are quickly erected to draw attention.
- A Frame signs; these fold up and can be laid flat for transportation. Double sided in nature people can see what is written on them from a distance.
